Isabel thank you for your program – I am enjoying this way of eating, I am activity, motivated to this new way of dieting and food in not on my mind all the time. A plus to all of this is I’ve lost 20 lbs which is more than I’ve lost in years. Regards, Gail
i have a question about salad:
after taking the metabolic typing test and discovering that i am a protein type… i feel salad deprived! salad is my favorite food so i need to ask about this.
according to the “allowable servings guide” in the DSP manual, i am only allowed 1 carb for each meal or snack. that equates to only 1 cup of spring greens or spinach! 1 cup?! what kind of salad is that?! i put that much greens on HALF a sandwich;( furthermore, that leaves (hehehe… no pun intended) no more allowance for extra veggies on my salad like cucumber, sprouts, tomato and bell peppers. i am supposed to eat 4-5 ounces of protein with a tiny cup of plain salad? why?!
before DSP i would never limit the amount of fresh, raw veggies i felt like eating. as long as i kept a handle on accompanying calories (like dressings, etc.), i thought it was ok to eat unlimited green veggies like broccoli, kale and spinach. i have had no problem sticking to the rest of the meal plan, but i miss all the veggies.
can i eat more raw veggies? i don’t need a trough or salad or anything… maybe 2 cups of greens, topped with extra low-starch veggies and my lean protein? is that bad? how will it effect my weight loss results (goal is 10 lbs lost)? thanks;)
On the program for 2 1/2 weeks, and down 15 pounds.
UNBELIEVABLE!!!! Hey ME
Hey Isabel,
Just read your post about nut butters..some really yummy sounding snack ideas! I can’t find any raw nut butters either, but for the last year have just been buying the organic ones I can find. They are organic and natural but say on the back the they have been “lightly roasted” and then stoneground. They just contain the nut and sea salt. Are these ok to eat since they just say the nuts have been roasted lightly?
Thanks for your help
Nohea,
The biggest thing to remember on the DSP is to listen to your body! If you are craving salad, maybe you aren’t the protein type you thought you were. You can try eating the salad you are describing, and see how you feel after that. If you are still losing weight the way you want to – and you feel good – then it should be okay to eat that salad. Again, it’s all about listening to your body!
Emma,
I still recommend eating raw nut butters – lightly roasted just is not as healthy. If you absolutely cannot find raw nut butters, though, you will just have to do the best you can.
Isabel – We have just started back to eating eggs. It’s hard to find organic in my area. Can you check out the eggs at Walmart? The name on the carton is Nature’s Harmony, 100% All Natural, No added hormones, No antibiotics, 250 mg Omega 3. It doesn’t say organic (they also have a write-up on the inside of carton). Are they considered organic? I’d really like to know since we have been eating LOTS of eggs! I hate to be eating the wrong eggs! Thanks!
Debbie, unfortunately, if they don’t say “organic,” they aren’t organic.
Hello Isabel,i recently saw that your program really works so i decided to give it a try. My question is regarding the diet solution manual and the 14 days 2 a sexy body what should i try first???which one will work better for me or what do you recommend???? Im planning to loose 30 pounds accelerate my metabolism and eat healthy to have my ideal weight and i just got the program today so i havent started yet!!!can you please help me out please write me back asap i will appreciated a lot thanks!! Maria Jara
Maria, the 14 day quick start is designed to be the first thing you do when starting the DSP. After those first two weeks are up, you can start in on the rest of the program.
Dear Isabel, thanks for the metric edition of the manual! However, i guess there’s a mistake on the nut portions as they are listed down to be 75g. Is not 1/2oz = 14g?
discovered i’m protein type whilst i always fed on carbs. No wonder the weight gain! thanks for all the good sense that you share with us. Much appreciated!!
I have been using DSP for this last month and what really hit me is to know about the metabolic type. I have regained my energy!
Hi Isabel,
I just started the program 2day and i was looking at the menu for the first days and i notice that there is a category called POST WORKOUT what is that category for???Do i have to eat that too or i have to eat that only if i work out and what if i do not want to eat it is because all that food for a day is way too much food eating all that wont make u gain weight instead of loosing weight???please let me know when u get a chance i will appreciated???
Best Regards,
Maria
I am 5 feet tall and weigh 68 pounds. What kind of foods can I eat to GAIN at least 10 pounds?I’m tired of my doctor yelling at me.I eat lots of vegatables, meat and sweets.help
Mickey, you can still follow the DSP. The point of the program is not just to lose weight – it’s to create a healthy way of eating that your body responds well to. As a result, it can also be used to gain weight in a healthy manner.
Maria, if you are working out, the post-workout snack is a great thing to have. If it’s too much food though, you don’t need to eat it. You need to listen to your body – if it’s telling you to stop eating, then that’s probably a good idea. If you find that you’re hungry at other times during the day, you could use the post-workout snack then, too.
Hey Isabel< ive just order your program , iam living in the Caribbean, so i hope i will be able to find all the products i would need to buy.I cant wait to recieve my package. thanks Alanna
Greetings from the UK. I have been following your plan since February this year and have lost a total of 3 stone (not sure what that equates to in US measure) I have not found it difficult at all in fact its easy and should be followed by anyone struggling with their weight.
Dear Isabel i lost almost 40 pounds in 7 weeks thanks to you for the encouraging emails, Martin
hi there, you have a wonderful blog. thanks for sharing your life and experience here. hope you never give up doing that.
Isabel, just want to say that you’re an inspiration. I love your program as it very much fits with my ideals regarding weight loss programs. I strive to let readers know on my site that whatever eating plan they choose should be one that they can live with for life. Your plan fits that to a T. I promote your program in my newsletter and plan to have a review of it on my site soon. Thanks again for such a great program. It’s something I can honestly feel good promoting to my readers.
By the way, regarding the poster’s comments about needing to gain weight, I gained weight (I also needed to pack on some pounds) using similar approaches to those in your program. It definitely works.
I just recently joined yesteday to Diet Solutions and am 50 pounds overweight and Have tried every diet in the sun. I liked the weight watchers okay but it is a pain having to count calories and points and fat grams and I am really looking forward to a plan that will not only teach me healty ways of eating but I don\\\’t have to count and it is a lifestyle change but metabolism is it. I eat the right things but just can\\\’t seem to lose the weight so I am really excited about starting this program and nice to have a blog and facebook where people can go and connect with other people on the program. Thanks alot for sharing Isabel and God Bless you and your family.
Just read your email about your trip to Cancun. You must have stayed at the Moon Palace or someplace similar as I found the same thing.
Mexico does have some great diet friendly food, however, if you’re not staying at a resort. We spend one month there every Feb-March and love the fresh fruits and veggies.
You can actually see a video of my experiences at http://www.quickstepstohealth.com/healthy-food-on-vacation. We do go to Mazatlan and I didn’t care as much for Cancun when there but probably because of being stuck in the all-inclusive with really bad food!
Hi, I started the program two weeks ago. I need to lose about 40 lbs, but 20 would be a great start. First, I eliminated bread, potatoes, pasta and most sugars from my diet. By following the quick start quide, I dropped 9 lbs very fast. The provided recipes were a great help. I’ve tried several diets and all have failed for me. I think the DS plan is something I can stick with for a long time. It’s a plan that makes good sense and is very simple to follow. Thanks,
I’ve hooked up with your program and I think it’s great! I have a question about breakfast. I vary my breakfast foods every day but I enjoy cereal sometimes. I realize the normal production cereals are full of sugar and I respect that. Some of the ‘healthy’ cereals use ‘organic evaporated cane juice’ which to me is sugar. I have found one cereal, Uncle Sam, which is only sweetened with a touch of malted barley and is only rolled whole wheat and flax seed. I’m still not sure what you have against dairy milk but I’ve been using Almond Milk which I like better than Soy Milk. I just wanted to get your opinion on this. Thank You.
Rich
Isabel thank you for sharing your story and what motivates you to follow your simple plan. It’s so true that once you start eating that way, and make it a habit in your life, it becomes a part of your lifestyle that you truly enjoy doing. And the resources you share are great too
Isabel: I am on day 12. I feel great. My head has lost its fogginess, as I am doing this gluten free, thinking that I may have a sensitivity. I have found other recipes online also and have adapted them using DSP approved ingredients. My 16 year old daughter and I are partners and are slowly trying to “convert” (haha) the rest of the family. Weight loss is not such an issue with us as much as healthy eating. I have come off of 8 years of depression and feel like Im getting my life back. All of your progam came at a great time and it reminded me of all the things I used to do health-wise. I was also an aerobics instructor. I haven’t gotten started on exercising yet, but I will. Thanks for all your emails of encouragement. I know the are probably automatic but they really help get acclimated to the program and break it down into bite-size chunks. My favorite part is when you state that all things are possible through God. Many Blessings!
Thank You for finally a real honest approach to managing my own health and weight. You have a different approach to weight loss that will teach everyone how to eat again. I have learned everything from you and no other company is close to your way of weight loss.
You give everything to help people free first then when people see results they jump in. I will spread the word about you, to me you are special and I just love this program.
Isabelle, where were you forty years ago? Your program is fantastic! I have already lost 6 pounds in just three 3 three 3 three!!!!!days!!!!! I have to tell you I have never had such a good plan to follow and such an easy one. I do not feel deprived at all. I am getting married in June and have a lot of weight to lose to fit my wedding dress. At this rate I will lose it in no time. Thank you so much.
Dear Isabel,
Just a few days trying this, and the difference I note already is not feeling ravenously hungry all the time like I did when I didn’t feed myself enough healthy fats! What a relief!
I also tried Xylitol, and it doesn’t have the strong aftertaste that stevia has. I note that Xylitol has been used by dentists as a mouth rinse to protect against cavities for a few years now! It does seem strange that you recommend “organic everything”, and then allow use of these little packets of processed Xylitol over something natural like organic honey!
Richard, I am so sorry for the extremely delayed response. When it comes to cereal, if it is a DSP-approved cereal (well, as close to it as possible), it should be okay to have in moderation. If you are varying your breakfast foods on a daily basis as you said, then you should be okay.
Hi Isabel,
I am wondering if you can give out some details on how to incorporate your nutrition plan into a child’s daily nutrition. My children are little (4, 2, and 9 months), so obviously they need lots of good nutrients to grow, but I feel they wouldn’t get enough nutrition to grow if I followed the plan and made it our entire family way of eating (without restricting their caloric intake of course). Am I wrong about my concerns, how do you feed your little one?
Thanks,
Doreen
Doreen, I feed Christian based solely on the DSP principles and he is a healthy kid!
