Tea Juice

Ingredients

5-6 bags caffeine-free herbal tea (e.g., peach, mint, chamomile, or fruit tea)

3 quarts boiling water

Stevia powder (or liquid) to taste

Directions

Pour water over tea bags in a large pot. Add stevia while tea is hot. (Adjust amount
according to the desired sweetness.)
Let the tea cool, remove tea bags, transfer tea to a serving pitcher or individual water bottles, and refrigerate.

Why should you use stevia instead of other sweeteners? Read this article for more information on artificial sweeteners:

I just wanted to commend Isabel for all her excellent, excellent nutritional advice! ….Actually, it is cutting-edge. I was wondering what are her sources of information, as I have
never heard a nutritionist as up-to-date, with information I totally agree with (so far, anyway!) :) ))

Keep up the good work, Isabel…people need to hear this information, even if they don’t need to lose weight. It’s just
the right health information everyone needs to know, because there is so much media MIS-information circulating out there, especially TV commercials. Even most medical doctors don’t know this stuff! The only ones that I’ve heard
say these things are usually chiropractors who delve deeper
into nutritional products and scientific researchers. Thank you for this website…I hope you advertise it, somehow, even
more extensively in the near future. Perhaps it will reach a lot
more who really need it! I will do my best to tell others about it, also.

    Great idea!

You can also mix it with bubble water. Then you have a healthy icetea.

This is the tea I’ve been making for years…weird name, tea juice. I think the “juice” is a misleading name to make it sound healthier. It is delicious.

Why use tea bags when tea leaves are so much more flavoursome, and great for the garden and pot plants too! AND less processed … nice recipe!

I thought their was no good sugar but brown isn’t stevia a kind of sugar like swwet&low and equal why isn’t organic sugar better than stevia this is the first I have seen this website I am interested in the foods that you can eat I always thought the wheat bread was good also thank you for the little information I have gotten so far

WOW! I am a diabetic and came up with a thought of making my own ice-tea. Using jasmin green tea, herbal lemon tea and I do add juice from 1/2 lemon. I serve it with crushed ice on a really hot day!!! No stevia for me. But agree it is a good alternative. Nice to know others think the same way :)

I’ve been using sun crystals. It has some pure cane sugar, though it also has stevia. Could I still use this and loose weight?

  33. TheDietSolution
    Aug 3 2010

Lyanne, Sun Crystals are definitely better than using just regular sugar, but I still wouldn’t recommend using them. I would definitely say to stick with pure stevia.

Hi – I see you suggest Stevia for sweetness. I haven’t tried that but I have tried Truvia. Any thoughts on that sweetener?

  37. Linda
    Aug 14 2010

We all need some good advice on sweeteners….I read on the “Health Hound” blog that they are starting to mess with Stevia…what are we to do? What is wrong with organic raw sugar (brown)? Do I throw my big box of Splenda away?
I love your site and I am trying your diet….but I still want to do the point system on WW….it is hard to convert. Especially with their guidelines on oil or butter (2 tsp per day)?

I have a Stevia plant. You just take a few small branches off and tie them together hang upside down to dry. Then you can grind it up for your tea. Be careful though it is really sweet.

My favorite stevia is NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia – liquid drops. I use it in coffee, tea, cereals, everything. They have it in plain also. But I love Vanilla. Another good drink is Perrie (bubbly) water with just a few drops of the Vanilla Stevia and ice cubes. Nice an refreshing. I always carry a bottle of the stevia in my purse in case I am out somewhere and buy ice tea or something.

Hi Everyone, I’m a newbie and wanted to know if I can use plain tea (Lipton Iced Teabags w/ no fruit flavor)? Southerners love their iced tea without any other flavors..lol Thank you everyone!

This drinks sounds very refreshing. My friend at work lost over a stone by cutting out alcohol and drinking green tea at work instead of tea or coffee.

I have used Stevia in my green tea (bags) for several years…love the flavor and drink two or three cups a day. (Green Tea is also a cancer fighter).
Stevia is derived from a natural grown plant. If not found in your local grocer, check the health food store.
Going to try switching over to a healthier eating habit…recipees sound delicious.

In Australia, we now have a brand of Iced Green Tea on the market that is sweetened with Stevia. I’m sure it’s nowhere near as good as making your own, but my husband has an aversion to water, so I’ve insisted that this is all he is allowed if he buys something that is flavored and ready-to-drink. As he was drinking up to two cans of ‘diet’ cola per day, this has got to be better and he actually likes the tea.
On another note, I’ve always had an aversion to porridge (oatmeal I think you call it), but I know how good it is for you, so this morning, I’m giving it another go, but not without some unsweetened natural yogurt, strawberries and cinnamon. I’m hoping it’s loads better than I remember from my teens.

Thank you for pointing us towards tea and juice as alternatives to standard soft drinks. QUESTION: Is SELTZER (plain carbonated water) a suitable substitute for soda? I mix seltzer with juice, tea and stevia in various combinations. It’s my soda, champagne, cocktail and everything else (since I do not drink alcohol). The bubbles seem to make all the difference! I’d be interested in your take on this, please…

can Agave sweetener be used. it is not bitter and what quatity?

  47. TheDietSolution
    Jul 19 2011

Liz, agave should not be used. You can refer to Dr. Mercola’s research on agave for more information. I would suggest using stevia or xylitol as a sweetener.

what about green tea? I thought that was suppose to be the best tea to drink?
