Liz, agave should not be used. You can refer to Dr. Mercola's research on agave for more information. I would suggest using stevia or xylitol as a sweetener.

Thank you for pointing us towards tea and juice as alternatives to standard soft drinks. QUESTION: Is SELTZER (plain carbonated water) a suitable substitute for soda? I mix seltzer with juice, tea and stevia in various combinations. It's my soda, champagne, cocktail and everything else (since I do not drink alcohol). The bubbles seem to make all the difference! I'd be interested in your take on this, please...

In Australia, we now have a brand of Iced Green Tea on the market that is sweetened with Stevia. I'm sure it's nowhere near as good as making your own, but my husband has an aversion to water, so I've insisted that this is all he is allowed if he buys something that is flavored and ready-to-drink. As he was drinking up to two cans of 'diet' cola per day, this has got to be better and he actually likes the tea.
On another note, I've always had an aversion to porridge (oatmeal I think you call it), but I know how good it is for you, so this morning, I'm giving it another go, but not without some unsweetened natural yogurt, strawberries and cinnamon. I'm hoping it's loads better than I remember from my teens.

I have used Stevia in my green tea (bags) for several years...love the flavor and drink two or three cups a day. (Green Tea is also a cancer fighter).
Stevia is derived from a natural grown plant. If not found in your local grocer, check the health food store.
Going to try switching over to a healthier eating habit...recipees sound delicious.

This drinks sounds very refreshing. My friend at work lost over a stone by cutting out alcohol and drinking green tea at work instead of tea or coffee.

Thanks for all of your free advice and recipes. This is a great website!

Hi Everyone, I'm a newbie and wanted to know if I can use plain tea (Lipton Iced Teabags w/ no fruit flavor)? Southerners love their iced tea without any other flavors..lol Thank you everyone!

My favorite stevia is NuNaturals Vanilla Stevia - liquid drops. I use it in coffee, tea, cereals, everything. They have it in plain also. But I love Vanilla. Another good drink is Perrie (bubbly) water with just a few drops of the Vanilla Stevia and ice cubes. Nice an refreshing. I always carry a bottle of the stevia in my purse in case I am out somewhere and buy ice tea or something.
