Fruit Pizza

Posted by thedietsolution

This is a great snack idea from two of our DSP members!

Ingredients

Crust * 1 3/4 cups raw almonds (or 1 1/4 cups almond meal) * 1 TBSP Coconut Oil * 5 fresh dates pitted * pinch of nutmeg * 2 tsp of cinnamon * pinch of sea salt * 1 TBSP raw honey (you might need a little more to form dough)

Filling * 16 oz of Greek Yogurt * 1/4 cup Steviva Blend or Steviva to taste * Strawberries * Blueberries * Raspberries

Directions

1. Finely chop the nuts in a food processor (skip this step if using almond meal). 2. Add the oil, pitted dates, and the spices. Run all this through the food processor with the chopped nuts until it’s crumbs. 3. Transfer mixture to a mixing bowl, add honey, and mix to form a dough ball. Add more honey if needed. 4. Spread the dough into the bottom of a 9-inch pie pan, greased with coconut oil. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10-12 minutes, until the edges are just beginning to brown. 5. For filling, mix Greek yogurt with Steviva blend and spread into a cool shell. Add your fruit in a pattern and place on top of yogurt. Chill and serve.

*Serves 8.

Hi I just read the comment above about raw honey and your answer Isabel that raw honey is a great alternative, that’s great but my question is what’s the difference between ‘raw’ honey and just plain old honey ???

  6. julie says:

is this a good ‘all the time snack’ or an occasional treat? it sounds really yummy:)

  7. Phyllis says:

Can I eliminate the dates, and use Spenda instead of Stevia?

  8. Debby says:

Isabel, I LOVE your program and started in January of this year. I’ve always been a ‘natural cures’ believer so jumped in following the program as closely as possible, depending on where I was of course. I’ve been told my cholesterol was high for as long as I can remember but refused to take medication. Last week I got my bloodwork results and compared them to last year – they were amazing! HDL (good) went up! LDL (bad) went from 136 down to 90! Total went from 229 down to 203. However, the triglycerides went up from 183 to 245. What do you think might be causing this? The test was done in the afternoon so not on a fast. They are redrawing the blood tomorrow morning after a fast – hopefully the results will be even better! I will repost once I know. Thanks again for being such an encouragement and may God continue to bless your wonderful healthy ministry! Debby

I made the fruit pizza. Tastes great. The crust is amazing. I will be adapting the recipe for individual portions so I don’t have left overs. Although the leftovers make a great breakfast. mmmm good.

Can I use kiwis, bananas or apple slices?

  12. Michigan Suzy says:

why is every one ditzing splenda???
    just wondering….
I use it all the time because of my diabetes.
Am I wrong to use it???
sometimes I just need something sweet.
that fills the craving for me.

    • TheDietSolution says:

Suzy, I really wouldn’t recommend using Splenda. It is actually a form of sugar that has been incredibly processed.

  13. lucy says:

i was wondering if it is possible to loose about 30-50 lbs in 4 months with the dsp?

    • TheDietSolution says:

Lucy, I really can’t give you a number as to how many pounds you will lose. That depends on each individual body, as well as how well you adhere to the program and listen to your body. You should check out our community website at http://www.beyonddiet.com to read testimonial fro DSP members.

  14. TheDietSolution says:

Aggie, raw honey is honey that doesn’t have anything added to it – it’s just honey, no sugars or anything else.

  15. Deborah says:

I make this a lot. It’s a favorite. (The crust can be used for lots of different pie recipes.) I use raw honey or raw blue agave instead of stevia b/c I really don’t like the taste of stevia. Other than that I follow the recipe exactly and it really is delicious and a beautiful presentation.

  16. Laura says:

I’m also diabetic and I been using splenda so I should stard using stevia I don’t really like it, any other suggestions.

  17. lori says:

    what about using sucanat?

  18. Lia says:

I love dairy, and was wondering if there was a healthier alternative to yogurt?

  19. TheDietSolution says:

Lia, yogurt is okay to eat. Just keep it to yogurt that is either made from raw dairy or is certified organic. Greek yogurt is always a great choice.

  20. helen c says:

    what condiments are allowed

    • TheDietSolution says:

Helen, you can use most condiments as long as the ingredients are okay. For example, organic ketchup with no sugar added is fine. The one that seems to cause the most problems for members is mayonnaise. No worries though – I have a recipe for homemade mayo on Beyond Diet :)

  21. maureen says:

Hi there, I don’t want to sound negative as this looks to be a great recipe. My question is will the cooking of the Almond Meal turn it into an unhealthy food? I had thought all nuts should not be heated.
