Without knowing you personally or working on a training program with you, I would have to say to always listen to your body. If you don't feel like you should push yourself, don't. As far as lactic acid build up goes, I believe that stretching can really help. I'm not going to lie, I've had it before. When you work out really hard and then just stop, it can be one of the most excruciating pains ever. Another thing that has worked for me when dealing with that type of "soreness" is a good massage. Good luck on you surgery and keep us posted. Since you won't be able to move around much, try focusing your energy on something else that will keep your mind stimulated and happy. Meditation, reading, writing, art, maybe just a little stretching in your neck and upper body. This will keep your spirits up and help keep you away from unhealthy snacking out of boredom. Take Care!
