Chocolate Strawberry Oatmeal
Ingredients
1/3 cup oatmeal
1 cup water
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
3 large strawberries (or 5 small) cut in half or in quarters
Directions
Cook 1/3 cup dry oatmeal in 1 cup of water. Mix 1 scoop of protein powder with just a little bit of water, in a separate bowl, until it becomes thick. Add the powder and water mixture to the oatmeal. Top with cut strawberries and enjoy!
This is a super easy way to get in a high protein, high fiber and very filling breakfast.
For time saving purposes, I make several servings of oatmeal at once and keep it in the refrigerator for the next few days. In the morning, I scoop out 1 serving (1 heaping cup full) and heat it up on the stove top. Saves me a few minutes in the morning (every second counts, right?).

Looks good. I assume this uses regular oatmeal and not the instant.
I haven’t tried this yet. I am Scottish born and oatmeal is a staple in our diet. It seems an odd thing to do – making it a dessert by adding chocolate and strawberries. Even for brekky.
I also have a question – what do you think about Nutella. I live in Queensland, Australia and some of the things you talk about is very American and not how my husband and I eat (most Aussies) anyway. I’m 62 years old and am only a few kilo over weight about 4 kg’s and that has only come about in the last 18 months because we have been travelling all over OZ in a caravan. Cheers Sylvia.
The first ingredient in Nutella is sugar, and it also contains soy and skim milk – these are all things that should be avoided.
Yes, NEVER instant oatmeal.
I thought you indicated that oatmeal was not acceptable as a breakfast cereal. I’m confused
Hi Isabel, is there anything wrong with having Soy Lite milk with breakfast in the morning or skim milk. It is hard to get raw milk, and even grass fed meat for that matter.
Oatmeal is acceptable – INSTANT oatmeal is not. As long as your are reading the labels and there are no additives or bleaching, oatmeal should be fine.
Many people may need to cut out all grains completely though – for those people, oatmeal is not a good thing to be eating at any time of the day.
I make oatmeal, the largest pourtion along with Red River cook its quantity; then mix them together and thats breakfast. A great staple that holds you over until its snack time! I make it ahead so I can scoup out the measured amout and yummo !
Pauline, I suggest staying away from soy of any kind, so Soy Lite milk is not something I would recommend consuming.
why do we have to avoid milk?
Going to have to try this! My personal favourite thing to do with oatmeal is to fold in chopped banana, cinnamon and walnut pieces. Major mojo morning starter!
The notion of adding chocolate protien powder mixed with water, and fresh strawberries, sounds simply divine.
Something else to mention about the strawberries; they’re good for thyroid health, which in turn is good for maintaining a healthy metabolism.
Why do you not recommend Soy Lite milk? Do you not recommend any soy products?
Is all this stuff safe for kids? None of my children are overweight, just me and my husband.
Jennifer, the DSP is absolutely safe for kids! I feed my son the same type of food that I eat, and he’s definitely a healthy kid! This way of eating should not be just a means to an end (losing weight) – the idea is that it becomes part of your life.
Laura, I don’t recommend any soy products – there is an entire chapter on exactly why in the DSP manual.
Delicious!!!!
