Ready to Make a New Years Resolution?

December 28, 2009

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season.  I definitely did!

Not only did we celebrate my son’s first Christmas, but my husband and I are in Charleston, South Carolina with our wonderful family for the next several days.

We arrived here very late on Wednesday night, after a traffic filled 16 hours in the car (thank goodness for my healthy food cooler!).  Thursday and Friday were filled with gifts, family and lots of delicious food!  I will confess, my husband and I did have our fair share of sweets and treats, but we have continued to eat healthy and even took a trip to Whole Foods yesterday.

On Saturday morning we also went right over to the local gym in town and got ourselves a week membership.  Yes, my husband did try to pull the old “Let’s start on Monday morning” routine but I knew we would feel so much better all week long if we maintained our work out schedule and maintained our healthy daily eating.  Besides, it’s very rare that my husband and I ever get to go to the gym together so it’s actually a pretty fun part of our vacation.

Just in case you’re waiting for January 1st to get started on your own weight loss and fitness goals, I’m going to give you a swift kick in the butt and say…START NOW!  You’ll be amazed at what a difference just one week makes!

Just think about it.  By this time next week, you may already be a pound leaner, less bloated and much happier with how you feel when you wake up each morning.

How can I help you start 2010 off with a bang?  Well, I’ve got an awesome surprise for you this coming Thursday  and I’m working on the finishing touches right now!  Make sure to watch your email inbox closely…

Two last things before my husband and I are off to the gym…

First,  I just heard Craig Ballantyne, author of Turbulence Training, is offering his incredible workout system for 50% off this week.

http://turbulence.thedsp.info

He’s never done this kind of a sale before, so if you’re looking for a great workout to start off 2010, this one comes highly recommended by me.  If you want to details on what Craig’s program is all about, I’ve done a thorough review of it here on my fitness review page:

http://www.thedietsolutionprogram.com/fitness.aspx

It’s the third one down, but you’ll see there are also some other really great programs on there as well.

Second, I wanted to share with you one of the BEST Christmas presents I got this year.  It was a gift from my brother in law, sister in law and niece and it is perfect for my healthy DSP lifestyle!

Take a look at this great gift. It’s a new travel cooler for carrying around my healthy food:

Stay tuned…I’ve got a lot of great stuff coming this week..NEW recipes, NEW videos and a great surprise this Thursday!

  1. Hi Isabel,
So glad you, your husband and little one had a wonderful Christmas. We did here in Kentucky as well. I just wanted some snow. ha.

I began your program the day after Christmas, so as of today I am hitting my third day being sugar free. I have even given up the splenda. I worked out at my gym on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day they were closed and I take Saturday and Sunday’s off from the gym. However, I braved the cold, dark 24 degree temperatures and was at the gym by 5 a.m. and did the pool for 30 minutes. The truth is, I actually do feel better.

    Thanks,
    Joan

  2. Wow, a new cooler? It is nice! There was one video that I watched that touch where I am coming from – the one why is it we can eat little and get fat – because I often wonder about the same thing. And now this one to start the new year resolution NOW and not wait until 1/1/10. There is no good of a time as right now.

  3. Isabel this is my first time to post reply although i am a regular reader of your blogs and newsletter and yes i am picking up some great help for my health and family of course! Thanks for all the great stuff! Keep it up!

  4. Isabel, all the best for the season to you and your family and especially to your son.

That is a great gift you received. I love it too.

  5. Wow Isabel! That is a great gift. I sure would love to get my hands on one of those so I can tote my snacks around in my car. Happy New Year and Best Wishes to you and your family.

  6. I love the cooler! Where did your family find it??
Happy New Year and thank you for being so informative and inspirational, with a little humor thrown in!

  7. Pretty cooler. It does make a difference

  8. Hi Isabel,

Thank you for all the great tips and \"kicks in the butt\" – I HAVE been naughty this Christmas, making Christmas sweets that one must now consume or waste… BUT I will be good once I return from holidays on 8th Jan and then it\’s back to the gym, no sugar and only healthy meals.

Thanks again for great info that I read religiously!
Best wishes to you and your family for a fantastic 2010!

  9. Aw, what a nice cooler, Thank You for sharing but Thank You Most for All that You Do! :)

“Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to You and Your Family!”

  10. Wow – a picnic basket cooler – that is so neat. I have to get back on the wagon after Christmas. I did so good during T-giving then fell completely off. BUT I’m drinking plenty of water and eating whole again. It feels so much better. Thanks for always teaching and kicking us.

  11. It’s such a beautiful cooler! The design and colours are so vivid and pretty. Love it!

  12. hi Isabel,
just want to wish you and your family a great 2010 also thank you for the help during 2009.
you’ve helped me maintain my healthy weight and still eating well
    regards,
    Gina

  13. That’s a cute cooler, glad you had a great Xmas. I did too.

  14. How sweet and precious to have a new little one. Enjoy because they sure grow FAST! Children are such a joy and blessing, they make life FULL!

Well, I am having a little difficulty eliminating white flour products completely and/or wheat. My problem is that the nearest health food store is 45 minutes away from where I live. I did eat some spaghetti though that was made from wheat and had added omega 3’s to it?

I eat mostly veggies in my diet and some meat but mostly plant proteins. But I was told that I just don’t eat enough times per day and enough protein so that my body thinks it’s in starvation mode.

I have been exercising with free weights at home and some exercise ball and abs routines.

New to your blogs but so far what I have heard I really like.

  15. Wow your new cooler is wonderful, Isabel! Happy new year. I had been using your diet plan and i am observing great changes in my body. Thank you!

  16. Dear Isabel,

I regularly read your newsletters sent by you to my email address. I found tips and guidelines very useful. Since, I started reading your newsletters I have reduced intake of sugar/carbohydrates and started doing Yoga and Physical exercises. We follow vegetarian diets and therefore is it possible for you to send healthy food recipes and healthy tips to suit our eating habits?

Wish you & your family a very happy and prosperous new year.

    P.S.JADEJA

  17. Thanks for the encouragement! I started yesterday, walking 3 miles, and I cut out sugar and processed foods. I will be adding weights and exercising 3 times per weeks too. I am getting fit this year!

  18. Isabel,

I know what your thoughts are on milk, but i was wondering what you think about raw milk. I know you recommend it for people who chose to drink dairy on the DSP. I\’m thinking i might meet my weight lose goals sooner if i cut it out of my diet. What do you think?

Thank you for all your support!

    ~Tiffany

  19. Hey Tiffany,
If you feel better without dairy, then go ahead and cut it out. You don’t necessarily need it, it’s just some people like it.

  20. Hey Jadeja,
We are actually in the process of updating the manual to include more vegetarian options, especially when it comes to healthy protein choices, so look out for the next update!

  21. Happy New Year! You guys set a great example of how to not to procrastinate and stay active even on vacation. You also brought up a good point re: activity should be fun or chances are that you’re probably NOT going to do it!

  22. Hi isabel,

Well dear what i can say is that if you follow the diet at the end of the day you will see the results. when i started the progrm i was 93kgs today you cant believe am weighing 76kgs whereas my target was 77kgs.

  23. Hey Isabel!
Any chance you are going to start offering those coolers for sale? I usually work out and then go right to work, which will be the plan once my knee heals. Those would be perfect for packing everything I need (recovery meals and meals for work!)
    Thanks for a great program!

  24. Hey Cat,
Great Idea! If I do, you’ll be the first to know!

  25. Hi Isabel,
Thank you for all of the encouragement and advice. I’m committed to a healthy lifestyle and have been working on this for years. I have been stuck with the weight issue however, and have been eating lots of wheat and whole grain products thinking they were healthy. It’s a challeng to find the breads and rice products in our area that you recommend. I’m also very accustomed to dairy products on a daily basis, such as low fat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, skim milk, and I like cheese. How should I adjust my dairy intake and still get the calcium I need, as I am in my mid-50s. Thanks!

    Mary

  26. Hi Isabel!! Just wanted to say thanks so much for the new 14 day plan, I want to start it straight away!! I just have a question…The best nut butters I can find (i live in australia) – even in my organic store are “lightly roasted”. Is this better than roasted? Otherwise, what should i do to replace nut butter?

  27. This is in response to your 1-4-09 email. Funny you should mention training for a marathon as an example. I’m one who needs a goal and a timeframe for that goal to accomplish anything. I’ll be honest, I’m reading your information but have a real tough time being motivated to be “good” with eating right and exercising. But a few days ago, I signed up to run in a 1/2 marathon for a cause I believe in, clean water for those without it and the training starts tonight. I tried to get going when you were promoting the FBF workout by Rob P. but have failed to get off the ground on that one. So…6 months from now, after kicking butt and taking names, I run 13 miles for clean water. I can do this Isabel. Being 56 and overweight doesn’t have to be the norm.

  28. Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday. I heard about you through Mike Geary’s Program. He has several other links as well but between you and him, I feel I have gotten the most common sense, good approach to health & weightloss/bodyshaping. After feeling absolutely crummy for about 2 wks after Thanksgiving, I was desperite to feel better and finally ready to hear good advice (some of which I already knew but had not been ready to listen) Well after only a few days, I can’t even explain in short how much better I feel and thats just from diet changes (not including workouts I am slow to get started on) I lost 7 solid lbs in 2 wks and have maintained that through Christmas & New Years. Now I am starting workouts. Just want to say thanks for such a honest approach to health & body fitness.

  29. Hi Isabel- Happy New Year! Thank you so much for motivating me with your emails. I had a really bad year last year with a lot happening and when I saw your video I was really convinced that I could lose weight this year. I have only just started your program and already I don’t have any cravings for sugar or salty things. I am currently following your 14 day program for a sexy new me, and I beleive that it will happen if I stick to it, by the way I love the meal planners. I am still a little confused about the exercise routine as since I bought your articles for some reason other people are emailing me to do their workouts which appear a little opposite from what you say,and their food programs include Splenda etc. Can you please advise me yourself which workouts/exercise I need to start with to accelerate my weight loss. I weigh 92kgs and I would dearly love to go down to at least 75kgs. Or can anyone else help me to get started with agood exercise routone? I really want to do it right! Thanks

  30. Hi Isabel

Glad to hear your and you hubbie enjoyed Christmas, especially as it was your sons first. We too enjoyed Crimbo and it was our second daughters first Christmas too, she’s 6 months, and her name… Isabelle.

Turbulence Training is a fab book, in fact i would say Craig’s workouts are my favourites, and i will be starting back on it this week, particularly as i too ‘overindulged’ especially on the booze, empty calories, d’oh!

Great post Isabel, regards, Paul x

  31. Hi Isabell!

This may not be the best place to post this question, but do you ever eat sweet potatoes or brown rice or protein/whole wheat noodles with your meals? If not, why not?

    Thanks for your time!

    Donna

  32. Hey Donna,

Yes, I enjoy brown rice and sweet potatoes on occasion. I prefer to have rice noodles rather than whole wheat noodles.
